On June 3rd -1994 around 2am, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake, occurred deep in the ocean floor of the Java Trench. It sent a powerful tsunami shoreward at 300ks an hour that struck violently into the Indonesian coastline.
This year marked the 25yr anniversary of the G-Land tsunami.
This is a father and son recall of the ceremony and surf trip to pay their respects and to ride barrels together.
